They’re Boosting Vaccine Access Nationwide

Kenya is getting a major infrastructure upgrade to increase access to needed vaccinations nationwide.

“Investing in a high-quality cold chain system ensures that the vaccines that reach our communities and children are effective upon administration and our children continue to be protected from vaccine-preventable diseases,” says Susan Nakhumicha Wafula, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Health.

Two thousand sixty-one pieces of new cold chain equipment – valued at $7.09 million – have arrived in Keyna. This equipment will help ensure that vaccines remain at the correct temperature to retain their potency while travelling from the manufacturer to their final destination. This major upgrade will ensure that previously unreached and under-immunized children have greater access to essential vaccines. The cold chain equipment has been spread out across all 47 counties in Kenya, and employees have received the necessary training to install and maintain the equipment.
